The Hayling Windsurf Festival is a great weekend’s fun on the water. The racing yesterday was brilliant with over 350 windsurfers taking part. It is a fantastic event for Windsurfing so make sure you enter a team next year. Here is a picture of team Spartan, from left to right Rusty Marshall, Adam Hill, Will Rogers and Peter Hart.
Here is a picture of team Spartan Wetsuits and a quick look at our stand. We have had so many visitors making the show great fun. Lots of the trade have turned up with lovely new kit, there has been teaching sessions from the OTC, plus coaching from the likes of Jim Collis, Peter Hart and Gem Hall.
And look at the fantastic winter trawler hat from Spartan, we love it.
See you next year on the water

Jonny gave the Spartan 3/3 a big thumbs up. He purchased it from Dave at Reactive in Plymouth. Here are some great shots of Jonny putting the suit through its paces and having a great time.

Showing just how warm a Spartan suit can be
Spartan Wetsuits has a great line up of warm winter suits coming to the shops in September
Any more fun pictures out there?
Peter Hart has been out on the water testing the new multipurpose Spartan Wetsuits 3/3. The suit has a barrier system in place which is a new development for a summer suit in the Spartan range. The suit is performing very well and is wining in both warmth and comfort which are the hallmarks of Spartan quality suits. The new fluid weld seams are working very well and the drain holes on the ankles are very good for avoiding kite-surfing water flush up the legs
‘I have to say the 3ml all rounder is a real hit. I have it the ultimate test. In 4 days I windsurfed the waves, surfed, paddle-boarded, fished from a canoe and went snorkeling and spear fishing in the bracing Atlantic and the 3 ml did the lot. Normally the contrasting movements of paddling and windsurfing find it out, but it was flexible that I didn’t sense any compromise.
I was nervous of so much double lined neoprene but it seems good stuff and I didn’t notice any wind chill. And obviously it’s very hard-wearin’

The suit will be appearing on the web site soon and is already appearing in shops.

Hi Mark
Just back from Cornwall.
I have to say the 3ml allrounder is a real hit. I have it the ultimate test. In 4 days I windsurfed the waves, surfed, paddle-boarded, fished from a canoe and went snorkelling and spear fishing in the bracing Atlantic and the 3 ml did the lot. Normally the contrasting movements of paddling and windsurfing find it out, but it was flexible that I didn’t sense any compromise.
I was nervous of so much double lined neoprene but it seems good stuff and I didn’t notice any wind chill. And obviously it’s very hard-wearing.
Cheers
Pete
Here a picture of Chris Murray in the 4/3 Spartan Summer Convertible. We went to Bantham yesterday, the surf was quite small so we popped out on our SUP’s. We decided to test the 4/3 convert to see if the shoulders were flexible enough as not to tire us and to see if it was warm enough in the surf.
By the time we got to the water’s edge the tide was coming in and the waves were reasonable, if not messy as there was a force 2-3 blowing onshore, hence no windsurfing. The paddling was hectic as the wind was onshore and it felt like good old blighty white white white white water and then some more white white and more white water. Lots of paddling to get through the break, but very rewarding as we caught some reasonable waves and some good rides. A few drop-ins were just daft, we need smaller paddle boards for this size surf. We all went over the front when going out as sometimes we were just a bit too much in the breaking peak of a wave.
The 4/3 performed very well. The shoulders were very flexible and allowed a very free movement. As we were in the waves and falling in a fair bit the leg area did not heat up and the long legged suit was comfortable. The water was warm enough to feel fine with the short arms though I would not have wanted to surf with short arms, bit too chilly for that adventure. All in all the suit performed very well, short arm was great to wear and the Spartan 4/3 convert proved to be great for summer surfing SUP style.
We all slept very well that night

Congratulations to Sandra, Mike and Jules from all at Spartan. A fantastic charity day at Brogborough lakes as Barry Rivett the organiser put it :
“Well we did it !
The conditions were truly horrible, bitterly cold, gusty off shore winds… Did that stop anyone or anything ? We had 14 people on the water at sunrise ( 05:37 )… a 30 second time-lapse video of the first 30 minutes is attached…. more joined us later.”
We are very pleased that they liked the summer 3/2 wetsuits and new rash vests and wish you all a great summer at Brogborough.
Well done and all the best

“wow wow wow wow and alote more wow!
ive got to say im pritty damn sure that you guys at spartan are very far ahead when it comes to a warm wetsuit.
you have changed cold miserable sessions to making the most out of them by thinking and performing like you would in a summer session. Honestly, kiters dont no what there missing when it comes to flexible warm suits.”
It is good to know that the correct type of single lined neoprene will stand up to the stress and strains put on a wetsuit by Kitesurfing. The recent NPL report is leading towards the fact that single lined wetsuit is much warmer to wear in the wind as the suit does not cool as the air passess over it. Double Lined retains water which cools as it evaporates, there will be more information to follow.
Meanwhile it is good to have a very happy kitesurfer in our single lined Winter range of Wetsuits
A lovely Spring day at Bigbury Bay, sadly with no waves. We decided to have a long paddle around the Island and along the coast and as it was chilly we tested the Ultra Flex.
The journey was great fun and super exercise. The suit was great as the loose arms and very flexible shoulders worked really well and my fatigue was due to fitness rather than blaming the suit (which of course I did blame and perhaps the paddle was heavy). We have surfed in this suit too thumbs up from us on using the Ultra Flex for cold days paddle boarding.
