I came to the UK to study at Southampton four years ago. I chose it because it’s meant to be the sunniest place in England and never imagined I would also get so much windsurfing in or as many epic sessions as I’ve had around the South Coast! I started windsurfing ages ago in Margarita, and spent about 2 months there during my gap year- couldn’t have asked for better conditions but it did mean that the cold English waters were a bit of a shock to the system! Since moving here I’ve competed in most of the student competitions and have recently entered the UKWA ones. I’ve met a solid crew of windsurfers who have pushed me to improve and with who I’ve gone sailing and kiting around the UK and in Fuerteventura, Rhodes, Dahab and recently Naxos in Greece. What do I do when the wind doesn’t blow? Surf, Snowboard, Tennis… and well study sometimes I suppose!
